IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING MODELS AS AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT AND STUDENT SCIENTIFIC PERFORMANCE

Description

This action research aimed at (1) improving students’ achievement, and (2) students’ scientific performance by implementing Project-Based Learning. The data for students’ achievement were obtained from daily test and quiz in which the quiz score was 40% and daily test score was 60%. The data for students’ scientifif performance were obtained from the observation (project rubric). Then, the data were analyzed descriptively.

The result showed that (1) the implementation of Project-Based Learning could improve the students’ achievement. The beginning reflection showed that the students’ mean score was only 63,80 with classroom achievement was 60,14%. The students’ achievement improved in every cycles. The mean score was 79,77 in cycle 1 and 86,50 in cycle 2 with classroom achievement 76,67% in cycle 1 and 90% in cycle 2. (2) the students’ scientific performance also improved. It was “OK” category in cycle 1 and “GOOD” category in cycle 2. It could be concluded that Project-Based Learning could improve the students’ achievement and scientific performance.
