Story with changed ending. A game?
Description
This paper aims to comment the short prose of Florin Iaru, in particular, texts defined by the author as “stories with changed endings” (from the volumes Stories with Changed Endings and Green Breasts). In general, these texts are based on a playful intention, but unexpected, overturned climaxes reveal, in fact, the dramatic aspects of human existence. Therefore, the purpose of these stories is not the game itself, but a most striking presentation of harsh realities. The means used by the author to construct his texts are irony, intertext, allusion, etc. The conclusion is that, for the most part, the stories whit changed endings of Florin Iaru are parables, texts in which the truths of human existence are expressed allegorically.
