The Great Colonnade and the Monumental Arch became a landmark not only of Palmyra but also of Syria. As it happens, however, some best known monuments do not always get all the attention they deserve. This is the case here, in spite of many descriptions, engravings and photographs provided over the years by travellers and archaeologists active in Palmyra. |
