ABSTRACT

Europe), International Cartographic Association (ICA) and TU Delft. There are only a few conferences that bring together all the various ofrganizations involved with geo-information. Map World Forum, held in India in January 2007, was one such meeting, which concentrated on commercial and political aspects of geo-information. Many of the international societies were represented there. The International ESRI User Conference is a meeting that brings together all components of the geo-spatial industry, including the geo-spatial societies. The societies also met at the Cambridge Conference, organized by Ordnance Survey of Great Britain in July 2007. This meeting was primarily for national mapping agencies but provided a very valuable overview of developments and issues within the mapping profession. The International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) was formally established during the last four years and has organized a number of conferences bringing together organizations that support this concept, and this inevitably includes the use of imagery.
