Abstract
A high-sensitivity search for the strangeness dibaryon was conducted at the Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) using the reaction at . The sensitivity was independent of lifetime and decay modes. No evidence for production was observed. In a mass range extending from about to below the threshold of , the resulting upper limits on the -production cross section are in the range of to , approximately 1 order of magnitude below a theoretical calculation.
