Sensitivity of FEV<inf>1</inf> and Clinical Parameters in Children With a Suspected Asthma Diagnosis
2023, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In PracticeCitation Excerpt :As for the obstruction threshold FEV1/FVC of 90%, such value should not be used in children to assess airways obstruction, considering the unsatisfying sensitivity of this criterion in ours and in previous studies.20 Several authors proposed to evaluate the change in FEF25–75 after bronchodilation test to diagnose asthma in children.23,24,33,34 Nevertheless, in our study, such criterion showed an even lower sensitivity than FEV1.
Respiratory functions after partial laryngectomy surgery
2016, International Journal of Surgery OpenCitation Excerpt :In spirometric inspection, FEV1, FVC, and FEV1/FVC examinations are frequently used and these parameters are utilized in the diagnosis of the restrictive and obstructive pulmonary diseases. In addition, it was demonstrated in the previous studies that FEF25–75 value is more effective especially in the obstructive pulmonary diseases than FEV1/FVC value [7]. In our study, we determined that, when the FEV1/FVC and FEF25–75 values are taken into account and although there is no significant difference between groups statistically, change is observed in the respiratory function test to the least extent in patients having cordectomy, and most deterioration took place in patients having supracricoid laryngectomy.
