Advances in SLE classification criteria
2022, Journal of AutoimmunityCitation Excerpt :Shortly after the publication of the ACR criteria in 1982, anti-phospholipid antibodies were identified. The ACR criteria 1997 update [2] appropriately refers to Dr. Graham Hughes and Dr. Donato Alarcon-Segovia among others, citing a total of four pivotal publications [14–17] and a paper by Piette and colleagues [18] suggesting reevaluation of the ACR criteria in this direction. At the same time, the LE cell test, which was available for less than half of the SLE patients already in the 1982 data base [1], slowly disappeared from clinical practice and was removed.
