2022, Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North AmericaCitation Excerpt :Our understanding of PAN has evolved considerably in recent decades. Since the 1970s, a strong association between PAN and hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been known.35–37 Reported incidences varied, but in the 1970s and 1980s, HBV likely accounted for over 30% of cases of PAN.38

2018, Journal of Investigative DermatologyCitation Excerpt :The deposition of immune complex (IC) induces an acute inflammatory response with tissue injury. IC-mediated tissue injury is implicated in a variety of human diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, RA, cryoglobulinemia, IgA vasculitis, polyarteritis nodosa cutis (PNC), and urticarial vasculitis (Gocke et al., 1970; Hall et al., 1980; Heller et al., 1999; Kauffmann et al., 1980; Monroe, 1981). The classical experimental model for IC-mediated tissue injury is the Arthus reaction, which is characterized by edema, hemorrhage, and neutrophil infiltration (Arthus, 1903).
