Abstract

There is yet to be a complete quantum mechanical version of the Fokker-Feynman model for many-particle systems with interactions of electromagnetic origin, because the corresponding Lagrangian is of infinite order. It is still an open question as to how the resultant Hamiltonian should be quantised. It is shown, using a simple illustrative example, that a straightforward means of quantising such systems exists, leading to a natural extension of standard quantum mechanics.
