2017, European Journal of PharmacologyCitation Excerpt :It strays from stereotyped cardiac response of the baroreflex, coexistent with reduced blood pressure (Helke and Seagard, 2004). Either of the two pharmacophores was reported to induce bradycardia in rats (Eager et al., 1994; Melchiori and Negri, 1996; Portolano et al., 1991; Wojciechowski et al., 2016). The lack of this downward trend might be possibly attributed to that AWL3106 is a new molecule of different pharmacodynamic properties, compared with the rudimental pharmacophores.

2013, ToxiconCitation Excerpt :In spite of the substitution of the non-polar amino acid residue (Phe) for a polar one (Ser), no change in the partial charge of the peptide could be detected (data not shown). Besides this amino acid substitution, all peptides encoded by both contigs have a C-terminal portion that is liable to amidation, which increases the peptide affinity for the receptor (Melchiori and Negri, 1996). But there is no clear indicative that the amino acid substitution observed here influence the biological activity of the peptide encoded by DM01 contig.
