2014, Electrochimica ActaCitation Excerpt :Phosphate buffer (0,1 mol dm−3) was chosen for the assays based on literature reports stating it causes fewer problems with partitioning than other buffers [12], and all the experiments were performed in buffered aqueous solutions in a pH range from 2 to 12. However, at some pH values, notably in alkaline solutions, the obtained voltammetric profiles of the dyes were affected by the adsorption of the dyes and their reduction products on the electrode surface [20]. To avoid this problem, the partition experiments were performed under different pH conditions, but the voltammograms, before and after partitioning, were acquired at an optimum pH value.
Doped pencil leads for drawing modified electrodes on paper-based electrochemical devices

The distance of the backward peak from the forward one (Epa − Epc = ca. 270 mV) was also in this case higher enough than that proper for a one-electron reversible process, conceivably not only for the resistance of carbon paste in pencil leads and/or cellulose fibers within paper which is anything but negligible, but also owing to rearrangements involved in the electrode reaction, whose occurrence is more difficult in solid-state structure [50]. However, the results found point out that electrochemical properties of pencil drawn electrodes can be suitably tuned when doped with convenient species.
