A Comparative Study of Visual and Photoelectric Timing of Occultations

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: International Astronomical Union/Union Astronomique Internationale ((IAUH,volume 2))

Abstract

The timing of occultations of stars by the Moon provide data for the following studies:

  1. (a)

Lunar theory — Constants and secular changes of its orbit.

  2. (b)

Fundamental star systems — Systematic corrections to equinox and obliquity; individual star corrections.

  3. (c)

Rotation of Earth — Comparison of atomic and ephemeris time scales.
