Synthesis and Characterization of Magnetic γ-Fe2O3/Al2O3 Core-Shell Nanocomposites

Article Preview

Abstract:

The γ-Fe2O3/Al2O3 core-shell nanocomposites (MCSs) were successfully synthesized by using heterogeneous nucleation method. The results show that a core-shell structures exit in γ-Fe2O3/Al2O3 MCSs and that the size of γ-Fe2O3/Al2O3 MCSs is in nanoscale. The saturated magnetization and coercivity of γ-Fe2O3/Al2O3 MCSs decrease compared with that of γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles. However, the infrared absorbing ability of γ-Fe2O3/Al2O3 MCSs is obvious enhanced and it is expected to become a new series of absorbing materials applied in military field.
