The outbreak may necessitate the restriction of clinical practices, such as the postponement of eye surgery, early release of inpatients from the hospital and even closure of wards [21–26,48–58]. Studies worldwide show that HAdV-8 is the most important agent of EKC and accounts for up to 80% of the cases [36,50–52,56,57].
