ABSTRACT

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronically relapsing inflammatory skin condition, exhibiting a variety of unique features (Table 1) (1, 2). Over the last few decades, great advancement has been achieved in revealing the inflammatory components of the disease. By histology, acute lesions are characterized by disease: nonspecific acanthosis, paraand hyperkerathoses, and spongiosis (3). Macroscopically, the lesions are characterized by pruritic erythematous excoreated papules. Chronic inflammatory lesions are defined by the presence of lichenification and dry and fybrotic papules.
