ABSTRACT
Controlled delivery system (CDS) may be dened as a bioactive carrier system that has the ability to release the incorporated bioactive agent in a controlled manner so as to have a prolonged therapeutic effect. The efciency of drugs, for example, would increase enormously if they were directed selectively to their cellular targets, a concept rst introduced by Paul Ehrich at the beginning of the twentieth century.
