ABSTRACT
Results on the condition number of Vandermonde type matrices obtained during the last 25 years are reviewed. Equal emphasis is given to real and complex nodes. Recent work dealing with nodes placed sequentially on circular and elliptic contours in the complex plane receives special attention.
