Abstract

The behavior of bovine serum albumin on the surfaces of macroporous silica and mesoporous carbon adsorbents at 293 K is considered based on adsorption data and infrared spectroscopy. Analysis of adsorption isotherms and infrared spectra of albumin adsorbed on silica and carbon adsorbents provides information on the effect of the chemical nature of the surface and the structure of the adsorbent on the shape and position of adsorption isotherms and the character of intermolecular interactions in the protein-adsorbent system. Peculiarities of the behavior of albumin macromolecules at the interaction with silica and carbon adsorbents are discussed.
