Abstract
In the course of the phycofloristic studies of the granite walls of buildings in Galicia (NW Iberian Peninsula), populations of several species of Gloeocapsa were found. In this article the life cycles of three of these species are studied: G. biformis Ercegović, G. kuetzingiana Nägeli and G. violascea (Corda) Rabenhorst (Chroococcales, Cyanoprokaryota). Natural populations were studied as well as those grown in cultures on small portions of granite. New stages of their biological cycles and also morphometrical differences between natural and cultured populations were observed.
