Abstract
New plant disease records for New Zealand are reported, some of which are new world records. New records of pathogens on widely grown plants include: Calortectria kyotensls on Actinidia, Cyclamen, Daucus and Diospyros; Cylindrocladium scoparium on Feijoa, Platycladus and Thuja; Drechslera dematioidea on Leucospermum; Microsphaera alphitoides on Platanus; M. euonymi-japonici on Cotinus; Sphaerotheca pannosa
on. Malus. Short notes on 15 fungi are given. Two frequently confused species of Cylindrocladium, C. floridanum and C. scoparium are distinguished on the basis of their microsclerotia and the amount of pigmented mycelium produced in culture. Fruit infection of apple by Liberiella blepharis is recorded for the first time. The powdery mildew Microsphaera alphitoides is reported as the first foliar pathogen of the water-weed Myriophyilum aquaticum. On Platanus spp. this mildew produced long, occasionally branched conidiophores and an unusual type of conidial germination where the germ tube resembled cleisto-thecial appendages.
