Discotic columnar mesophases derived from ‘rod-like’ π-conjugated anion-responsive acyclic oligopyrroles

Abstract

Rod-like π-conjugated anion-responsive acyclic oligopyrroles have been reported to form stacked disk-like components that result in the formation of discotic columnar mesophases as thermotropic liquid crystals.
