Interior Morphology of Bulk Polypropylene

Abstract

As the result in recent years of the growth and identification of lamellar single crystals of various polymers, produced both by dilute-solution methods and by melt crystallization of thin films, older concepts of the structure and texture of bulk crystalline polymers have been undergoing change1. Indications that bulk samples of partially crystalline polymers also contain lamellar-like crystals have come from electron microscope examinations of fracture surfaces2, and of fragments3,4 of bulk polymers dispersed by means of a nitric-acid digestive treatment5.
