Abstract
INVESTIGATIONS of the polysaccharides of Mycobacterium phlei have been few and mainly concerned with those secreted into the culture medium. Thus Masucci and McAlpine1 found that a polysaccharide which they isolated from culture filtrates contained D-mannose and D-arabinose. Tennent and Watson2 isolated a similar product and showed that the molecular weight was 7,300. In the present investigation the intracellular polysaccharides of M. phlei were studied.
