Abstract

Mono-oxidation of β-cyclodextrin was performed alongwith its incorporation into chitosan by a direct, efficient reductivecoupling reaction. The inclusion ability of the obtained productwas studied spectrophotometrically, using 6-thiopurine as guestmolecule. In addition a new procedure for the determinationof association constants in polymer-incorporated cyclodextrinsis proposed and tested. Experimental results demonstrate anincrease in the inclusion ability of β-cyclodextrin after itsincorporation into polymer chains.
