2022, International Journal of PharmaceuticsCitation Excerpt :Schipper et al. (1997) revealed in a similar investigation that CS attaches to Caco-2 cell monolayers via + charges and continues to have an impact after being withdrawn from the cell surfaces. The binding action may increase medicine retention at the application site, allowing for fewer applications and doses to be administered, and so enhancing patient tolerability (Schipper et al., 1997; Aspden et al., 1997). It was reported that both surface charges and PS improve the transmucosal permeation of NPs (Contri et al., 2016), which can be deduced from the small sizes and the high positively charges of the tested formulae.
