Role of Interventional Radiology in the Management of Infection
2020, Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRICitation Excerpt :Contraindications include uncorrectable coagulopathy and multisegmental obstruction that cannot be traversed with a wire (eg, sclerosing cholangitis). A relative contraindication is gross ascites, though paracentesis may be performed prior to PTC if large volume ascites is of concern.9 Preprocedural imaging with an abdominal magnetic resonance imaging/magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography is of value to demonstrate biliary anatomy and determine the level of obstruction.
