The TPF is the cephalad extension of the superficial musculoaponeurotic system as it passes over the zygomatic arch (11,16) (Fig. 1). It is continuous with the galea aponeurotica superiorly, the frontalis muscle anteriorly, and occipitalis muscle posteriorly.
