Highly-efficient cathodic lysis of biofilm on conductive carbon nanotube membranes
2023, Separation and Purification TechnologyCitation Excerpt :For a single bacteria without biofilm encapsulation, the entry of H2O2 into bacterial cells is limited by the function of the channel proteins [49] and the presence of catalase [24]. Furthermore, P. aeruginosa possess efficient enzyme systems that can deal with oxidative stress, which increases their resistance to H2O2 as high as 10 mM after exposure to sublethal concentrations of H2O2 (60 μM) [50]. However, external electric field was found to interfere with the bacterial membrane potential and electrophoretic mobilities of bacterial membrane proteins, thereby promoting the expression of bacterial autolysis genes [51].
