2019, Current Opinion in PharmacologyCitation Excerpt :This is a distinct syndrome, manifested as a hypersensitivity reaction, rather than allergy per se. There is evidence that in these patients, TXA2 inhibitors do not cause airway responses, and thus the activation pathway of platelets in AERD remains unknown [32]. Regardless of the efficacy of aspirin as an NSAID, separating these mode(s) of action from the well documented mechanism of aspirin treatment on haemostatic functions of platelets remains complicated.
