Sandeep Handa was born in London, studied at Cambridge University, where he obtained a B.A. in Natural Sciences in 1990 and his Ph.D. in 1994 under the direction of Dr. J. Staunton. After spending 18 months in the laboratories of Professor H. G. Floss at the University of Washington, Seattle, he returned to the UK for a further postdoctoral period at the University of Nottingham with Professor G. Pattenden. He was appointed to his current position as Lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Leicester in January 1998. His scientific interests include aspects of chemical biology especially the synthesis of novel enzyme inhibitors and biomimetic free-radical chemistry.
