A mer operon confers mercury reduction in a Staphylococcus epidermidis strain isolated from Lanzhou reach of the Yellow River
2014, International Biodeterioration and BiodegradationCitation Excerpt :The merA, encoding a mercuric reductase, is immediately followed by genes encoding transporters (Reniero et al., 1995). Lots of studies have revealed that a widespread of microorganisms possess mer operon including Shigella flexneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia marcescens, Xanthomonassp, Pseudomonas stutzer, Staphylococcus aureu (Bhriain and Foster, 1986; Summers, 1986; Laddaga et al., 1987; Wang et al., 1989; Hobman et al., 2000). Staphylococcus epidermidis is agram positive bacteria belonging to the genus Staphylococcus.
