Abstract

  • 1.

    1. Phosphofructokinase from cod white muscle has been purified and its properties have been studied.

  • 2.

    2. Enzymatic activity at pH 7.0 was dependent on ATP concentration with a number of other compounds having a modifying effect.

  • 3.

    3. Activity was non-linear with respect to enzyme concentration but linear when plotted as a function of the square of the concentration probably reflecting concentration-dependent association/dissociation reactions.

  • 4.

    4. The enzyme had a mol. wt of 335,000 and was composed of four identical subunits.
