Abstract

The dynamic swelling behavior of poly(HEMA-co-NVP) copolymers at 37°C was investigated. The copolymers had widely varying contents of both components. It was observed that the swelling mechanism was non-Fickian, associated with major changes of the thickness and other dimensions of the samples. Theophylline release from initially dry hydrogels gave a quasi-zero order release depending on the copolymer composition and the thickness of the samples.
