MK-801-induced behavioral and dopaminergic responses in the shell part of the nucleus accumbens in adult male rats are disrupted after neonatal blockade of the ventral subiculum
2021, Neurochemistry InternationalCitation Excerpt :After surgery, they were placed under a heating lamp until they woke up and then returned to their mothers. On PND70 a specially designed microsystem used to monitor the behavior and DAergic changes in freely moving animals simultaneously (Louilot et al., 1987) was stereotaxically implanted in the male rats having previously undergone neonatal microinjection in the VSub. The adult animals had the microsystem implanted in the left dorsomedial shell part of the Nacc with the following coordinates: +10.6 mm from the interaural line defined by the ear bars (AP coordinate); 1.6 mm from the midline defined by the sagittal suture (L coordinate); −7.1 mm from the surface of the cortex (H coordinate) (Paxinos and Watson, 2014).
Postnatal functional inactivation of the ventral subiculum enhances dopaminergic responses in the core part of the nucleus accumbens following ketamine injection in adult rats
2020, Neurochemistry InternationalCitation Excerpt :Thus, the mothers seem to exhibit the same behaviour towards PBS and TTX microinjected newborns, although the possibility cannot be ruled out that subtle, unnoticed, different maternal behaviours towards neonates of the two groups during the period preceding weaning may contribute to different phenotypes in adult PBS and TTX neonatally treated animals. A specially designed microsystem (Unimécanique-M2E, France; Louilot et al., 1987a), enabling behavioural and DAergic responses to be recorded simultaneously, was stereotaxically implanted at PND70 in the grown male rats, weight ~400 ± 25 g, microinfused in the SUB at PND8 with either PBS or TTX. Stereotaxical surgery was performed using a stereotaxic frame (Unimécanique-M2E, France) following general anaesthesia with chloral hydrate (400 mg/kg; 8 ml/kg ip) (Field et al., 1993) and sc injection of a local anaesthetic (Xylovet®, Ceva, Libourne, France) in the animal's head to ensure as full analgesia as possible throughout the implantation.
Dopaminergic responses in the core part of the nucleus accumbens to subcutaneous MK801 administration are increased following postnatal transient blockade of the prefrontal cortex
2017, Behavioural Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :As discussed in our previous studies, the efficient spread for the volume of TTX microinjected in the PFC is unlikely to have a radius greater than 0.67 mm, and TTX functional inactivation lasts between 4 h and two days [33,34]. So that is was possible to follow the behavior and DAergic changes in freely moving animals simultaneously, a specially designed microsystem, Unimécanique [32] was surgically implanted at PND70 to allow carbon fiber electrodes to be inserted extemporaneously in the left core part of the Nacc. To that end, adult male rats, microinjected with TTX or PBS in the left PFC at PND8 and weighing about 400 ± 25 g at the time of surgery, were first anaesthetized with chloral hydrate (400 mg/kg; 8 ml/kg ip) [35]; placed in a stereotaxic apparatus (Unimécanique, Epinay/Seine, France) and then to ensure an analgesia as complete as possible an additional s.c. injection of a local anesthetic (Xylovet®, Centravet, Nancy, France) is made at the level of the head of the animal before the cutaneous plans are incised.
Differential influence of the ventral subiculum on dopaminergic responses observed in core and dorsomedial shell subregions of the nucleus accumbens in latent inhibition
2008, NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :A total of 95 animals were operated on after first being anesthetized with an i.p. injection of chloral hydrate (400 mg/kg) and placed on a stereotaxic apparatus (incisor bar 3.3 mm below interaural line) (Unimécamique, Epinay/Seine, France). They were then implanted with a specially designed micromanipulator allowing the working carbon fiber microelectrodes to be replaced before each experiment (Unimécanique) (Louilot et al., 1987). Stereotaxic coordinates were adjusted for the rat strain used in accordance with Paxinos and Watson's atlas (1998).
