Reovirus: RNA polymerase activity in purified virions

Abstract

Purified reovirus particles contain a polymerase which transcribes virus-specific mRNA invitro from the double-stranded, viral RNA genome. The enzyme activity is markedly increased after heat-shocking the virions.
