Abstract
Improved diagnostics and oncological treatment have led to an extension of survival time for many patients with an incurable disease. These developments lead to changes in supportive care needs and the need for evidence-based psycho-oncological interventions for patients in an incurable disease situation. This article gives an overview of the specific burden of patients with progressive diseases and the state of psycho-oncological interventional research.
