Determination of soil resistance along the lateral surface of cast-in-place piles from results of static penetration

Conclusion

The factors used to convert from the results of penetration to soil-resistance values on the lateral surfaces of piles, which are cited in the paper, were obtained for the indicated construction sites under the following conditions: the specific friction against the lateral surface of the cast-in-place pile and on the surface of the measurement coupling of the penetrometer is measured with local wetting of the soil (emergency wetting from above), and the parameters of static penetration are measured using PIKA-11 and PIKA-14 units.

A measurement apparatus with technical characteristics similar to the PIKA-11 and PIKA-14 units should be used in performing comparable measurements in regions with different soil conditions.
