Abstract

The morphology and chemical content analysis of Hagen's glands of the braconid waspsBiosteres longicaudatus, B. tryoni, andB. arisanus were shown to be useful taxonomic markers.B. longicaudatus glands contain two components tentatively identified as (3aα,5β,6aα)-5-butyltetrahydro-furo[3,2-b]furan-2(3H)-one and a corresponding 5-hexyl derivative, whileB. tryoni glands contained dodecan-4-olide andB. arisanus glands contained ethyl octanoate, ethylZ-4-octenoate, and octan-4-olide.
