Abstract

Preparative and mechanistic aspects of polysilanes and polyphosphazenes are reviewed based on several synthetic methods developed in the author's laboratories. Various aspects of chemoselectivity, regioselectivity, stereoselectivity, and supramolecular control in these reactions are discussed. Polysilanes and copolysilanes are prepared by sonochemical reductive coupling, modifications, and ring-opening polymerization. Polyphosphazenes are prepared by the anionically catalyzed polycondensation of phosphoranimines.
