Part of the book series: Proceedings of the Phytochemical Society of Europe ((PPSE,volume 47))

Abstract

The aromatization of limonene — a major and easily separable turpentine component from Pinus pinea L. — to p-cymene has been carried out in liquid phase over zeolites, namely HY zeolite. Several reaction parameters have been studied such as reaction temperature, amount of catalyst and HY zeolites with different physico-chemical properties. High yields of p-cymene are obtained with a dealuminated HY zeolite.
