Abstract
Nucleic acid-mediated immunization refers to the induction of an immune response to a protein expressed in vivo subsequent to the introduction of its encoding polynucleotide (DNA or RNA). If proven to be safe, nucleic acid vaccines may one day be an attractive alternative to classical vaccines, which contain the antigen itself.
