Abstract
Orientation in polymers is a phenomenon, of great technical and theoretical importance. The word orientation itself conveys a number of ideas. It suggests that the structural units in the material which in this case can refer to the polymer chains, or the segments of the polymer chains, or the crystalline regions in the polymer, are aligned to some extent, The measurement of orientation in a polymer therefore provides valuable information for an understanding of the structure and properties. It may also describe the process whereby the oriented polymer is produced as well as indicate how the physical properties are modified as a result of this process.
