Abstract
Selected ion structure investigations are reviewed in this paper. The investigations illustrate the use of a variety of instrumental techniques, which include ICR mass spectrometry and several types of ion decomposition analyses, including unimolecular, collision induced and photo induced reactions. The isomeric ion systems described are C3H6O.+, C3H6O2.+, C2H5O+, C2H2O-, C7H8 + andC6H6O.+. In addition, investigations of the C3H6.+, C3H5O+, C6H6.+, C8H8.+ and C4H6.+ structures have been carried out with a newer technique in which ions are derivatized in the gas phase and the ionic derivatives are analyzed by collision induced dissociation spectrometry.
