Abstract
Nitrogenase activity in symbiotic Frankia is mostly measured on excised root nodules, nodulated roots or intact nodulated plants while the use of nodule homogenates is less common. Root nodule homogenates of actinorhizal plants represent Frankia in a symbiotic stage but released from the environmental influence of the host plant.
