The Climacteric in Perspective

Abstract

The climacteric experience of Black African women has received little attention in the medical literature. In fact, because almost all menopause surveys have been of almost entirely non-Black populations, little is known about Black women’s climacteric experience or of the meanings and significance of this turning point in their life cycles.
