Abstract

In conventional kinetic models, the brain consists of a number of compartments corresponding to the different states of the labeled tracer. The compartments reflect the fate of the tracer and represent a specific theory of the biochemistry of the brain. Compartments are volumes in which the concentration of the tracer or its derivatives everywhere is the same, separated by interfaces where concentration gradients are steep.
