Abstract
Gd-Ba-Cu-O films were grown on MgO(100). The film orientation depends on the substrate temperature: a-axis film from 580 to 720 °C; mix orientation (a+c) film between 720 and 780°C; c-axis film above 780 °C. The films have high crystalline quality from channeling studies and no film-substrate reaction was detected. The film surface morphologies depended not only on the substrate temperature but also the composition (Ar:O2) of the sputtering gas.
