Abstract
The significance or incidence of heterotopic ossification (HO) associated with artificial disc replacement is not known at this time. This is not actually surprising as total hip arthroplasty has been around a lot longer than the SB Charité™ prosthesis and in total joint replacement the low incidence in early studies is attributable to imprecise diagnostic criteria.
