Abstract
Intra-arterial Xenon-133 injection method for measurement of regional cerebral blood flow in man (1,2) has yielded quite a detailed knowledge of this parameter in a number of different clinical states. Of the several hundred papers published from many centers only a very brief review will be given below, with emphasis on Functional Activation, viz. the blood flow increase in specific brain cortex regions during tests involving sensory perception and/or voluntary movements. These studies serve as a basis for mapping the brain cortex and for evaluating the results in patients with stroke, tumor, focal epilepsy etc.
