Zusammenfassung

Schluckstörungen bei primären Erkrankungen der Muskulatur sind hauptsächlich durch eine Schwäche der quergestreiften Muskulatur im Pharynx und oberen Oesophagus bedingt. Eine Beteiligung der glatten Muskulatur ist klinisch von geringer Bedeutung. Häufigstes Symptom ist eine oro-pharyngeale Dysphagie. Prognostisch wichtig sind respiratorische Infekte durch Aspiration. Deren Prophylaxe (Adaptation der Nahrung, Anheben des oberen Bettendes) und Therapie (Sanierung respiratorischer Infekte) sind daher entscheidend.
